Cuevas de San José / Underground river in Vall d’Uixo

Through the cave San José flows an underground river, which represents an amazing natural phenomenon. The San José Caves are located in the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park. It is one of the few submarine rivers navigable by boat in Spain. Of the approximately 2750 meters 800 meters are prepared for tourist purposes. The cave is an excellent example of a hydrologically active cave where traces of Stone Age settlement and paintings were found. A highlight is the ride on the crystal-clear water through the Blue Lake, the Bats Hall, “Boca del Forn”, Lake Diana, the Devil’s Lake etc. Some of the most characteristic formations are the jellyfish, the cascade of the flower and the crib of Bethlehem. The visit lasts about 40 minutes and is mostly covered in the boat. Suitable for public of all ages. It is possible to book an additional cave tour.

La Sagunt / One of the oldest cities on the Costa Valencia

A good starting point for a stroll through the old town up to the Roman Theater and then to the Castillo de Sagunto is the Plaça del Cronista Chabret, on whose southern side the town hall can be found. Behind it we look at the slender tower of the parish church of Santa María, whose construction began in 1334. The church serves as a guide to the Plaça Major and the Carrer del Castell, which leads us to the Roman Theater.The Teatro Romano was built in AD 50 and could hold up to 6,000 people. It lies on the slope of a hill and in Roman times offered to the spectators a wide view of the plain protected by mountains far to the Mediterranean Sea. The rather dilapidated historical complex was extensively restored in the 90s, accompanied by corruption scandals.
